This is my entry for the Digital Whisper challenge where we were given this image of a light house and again the grayscale base was used here as I saw a very moody, dark kind of expression surrounding this image. We have a number of dramatic lighthouses here on the Pacific West Coast and I have visited many of them. They are usually shrouded in fog and mist and are generally a little cold and ominous even though their purpose is to bring light and direction to ships at sea. I overlayed the given image onto a photo I took of cliffs, sea caves and fog in Mendocino County and added the Fresco, solarize and soft light filters for a painterly and stormy look. The seagull is from wikimedia and the postcard stamp represents perhaps letters to a lonely lightkeeper at his post.

ReplyDeleteAnother fantastic piece Lori. I think the finishing touch of mail is terrific.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent, Lori! I love all the texture & especially the seagull!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning Lori! And it perfectly captures the scenes you painted with your words.
ReplyDeleteWhisper me inspired with a melancholy blend of soft tear drop rain and a lonely lighthouse to warn me of the rocky shores of a twilight tryst gone mad. That means I like it, I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnother brilliant creation. Enjoy the weekend, Annette x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely impressive and stunning Lori. Love the effect. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend my dear friend.
moody and evocative of storm and ships in peril. I love the palette you've chosen for this, the touches of sea colors amid all the grays is wonderlul.
ReplyDeleteAtmosphère dramatique bien évoquée par votre collage Lori ! j'aime beaucoup !
ReplyDeleteGorgeous...very atmospheric...wonderfully inspiring.
ReplyDeleteIt came out very spooky.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed by the background of this piece. It really reminds me of a few lighthouses I have seen on the west coast, most of them in SO CAL. This moody piece is more reminiscent of a dark and stormy night, which is what the lighthouse was designed for. Nice interpretation of this challenge and image.
ReplyDeletevery very beautiful. Love this kinda somber composition.
ReplyDeleteOne of your best - ever!!
ReplyDeleteMoody and magnificent! I love it. Great postcard touch too Lori.

ReplyDeleteThis is stunning, Lori. I love the little bit of color and the texture. It definitely gives a sense of wet, maybe cold, stormy feel to the piece. Even though it could depict a stormy night, this is a very soothing piece to me. Another favorite.
