Graphite
Carbon shadows linger
in cracks of limestone
filament.
Remnants etched
from lives passed;
lived well but short.
Fleeting yet forever told
in graphite stories.
Look well, look hard;
Secrets are unveiled
in mundane guise, forever lost
by momentary distraction.
All is not as it seems.....
Digital collage and poem for a gray Thursday evening. Imagery credits go to Holliewood and Finecrafted designs at Deviant scrap. Also from Lorie Davison at Scrapbookgraphics.

Persephone
This is my entry for the Three Muses challenge this week where the theme is " Spring". This digital collage is made with imagery from e-vint.com, Beth Rimmer and Evelyn at Deviantscrap; all blends and filters in PSE. I chose Persephone as the goddess of Spring as she returns to the surface of the earth from the underworld to renew and bring forth all flowers and new growth. There are signs of her presence everywhere and it is important to stop and look for her cues!

Jardin
Ah Spring... I just returned from a short trip to Dallas, Texas where huge thunder and lightening storms heralded in the first day of Spring along with 3-4 hour flight delays in the airport! Glad to be back home where the skies are blue and Spring is indeed showing signs of awakening. A bit of showers here and there though and this digital collage reminds us to keep the umbrellas close at hand. Imagery from Dover books Hollie and Evelyn at Deviant Scrap, Rosie Posie and Rebecca McMeen at Scrapbookgraphics. Graphics 45 artist papers all blended in PSE.

Book of Days
Daffodils come before the swallow dares,
and take the winds of March with beauty.
William Shakespeare
I love calendar art and decided that I would try to (each month) make a digital piece including some kind of calendar or datebook in the mix. It is not for use as a calendar just a reference to the month/days and or symbols of the season. Then I'd like to print them onto fabric and assemble a little book- for my own challenge. This first one is composed of imagery from Paper Whimsy, Lorie Davison and Rosie Posey at Scrapbookgraphics and Holliewood at Deviantscrap.

Red Flower
This is my entry for the Three Muses challenge this week "One Thing of Beauty". A single flower expresses so much in itself you need not have an entire bouquet.

Green Man
Rise
guardian of the wood.
Put on your green finery
blending shadow and myth.
The pulse of the forest is yours;
rich, alive, mysterious.
Your totems encircle the forest
to guide the spirited.
Gnarled and worn
tender and new
awaken and lead the way home.
This is my entry for the Take a Word challenge this week for the theme "Green". Very appropriate for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Green is an empowering color, the color of new life, the earth and her children and the Green Man in Celtic legend serves as her guardian. This guy is from a photo I took of my backyard guardian blended with imagery from Finecrafted designs at Deviant scrap and Celtic script from Dover books.

Synthesis
This is my entry for the Take A Word challenge this week where the theme is "Masculine". If I take a look back through my blog over the past 3 years there is a definate absence of the masculine essence in my work. I don't know why- I'm just drawn to the more feminine aspect in imagery and theme. So this challenge was a good opportunity to explore. When looking for imagery I went to Leonardo Da Vinci as I think of him as a rather masculine artist; with amazing sketches, machines/ inventions, sepia colored work. Sometimes brutal and yet he can capture the soft gentleness of expression in both his female and male drawings. This digital collage (tries) to portray a sketchbook type of rendering ; a coming together of odd yet symbolic objects into a unified whole... or synthesis. Imagery credits go to Dover, Rosey Posey and Dawn Inskip at scrapbookgraphics. Overlay blending with Fresco and gradient filters in PSE.
