This is my entry for The Three Muses challenge "Window". As late Summer rolls into Fall a sense of melancholy or longing often takes place. Observing the change of light and seasonal change is a time of daydreams and rememberance of days past. I am already sensing a bit of early Autumn here in California (kind of still waiting for summer in a way) - it has been unseasonally cool. Imagery used in this digital collage is from Dover books, Finecrafted Designs and Holliewood at Deviant Art. Artistic leaf brush from Photoshop.

I love the look of this, it's perfectly melancholy! I love the butterflies in the window begging her to come out into the world and be happy. Excellent work!

it is difficult to believe the scientists that our globe is warming up because in Holland we have had also a very could and rainy "summer".
ReplyDeleteBut I always keep hope. Perhaps the next month gives us sunshine Lori :-)

ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see your gorgeous pieces popping up again. I missed you. This is, indeed, melancholy and oh so beautiful. Kudos to you.
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is sooooo gorgeous, Lori!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori - I saw your comment on Bev's blog, explaining that you have been very busy and otherwise occupied. Just recently, Bev and I were discussing artists who have gone off the radar somewhat and we wondered if you were OK. It is good to know that you are still here and that you are OK apart from not being able to fully pursue your passion! It is so good to see you at the Muses with such a beautiful picture. Thanks for spending some of your limited spare time on it. We love your work.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful and gorgeous Lori! I adore your artwork. So much feeling in this picture.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed those two or three below as well. Magnificent art all round! xx
Hi Lori! Long time no see :) Hope you are ok? Your piece is really beautiful and absolutely evokes the feeling of fall. Take care :) (I can't, for some mysterious reason, post on some blogs, and I'm glad you have the 'anonymous' option, so I can post here) /Limar
ReplyDeleteMelancholic but not sad, love the colours and your image, a wonderful art work delicate and poetic.
ReplyDeleteVery nice piece,,,,, makes your mind wander to her thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThis is very appealing, Lori. That sense of the loss of summer is brought home by the butterflies and the wonderful colours.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful in a bitter sweet way. Creates a sense of longing in me.
ReplyDeleteHi Lori,
ReplyDeleteI love the wistful look of your Lady. If she's yearning for Fall, I know exactly how she feels.
Paulette
I like that you placed the girl at a window. I imagine her looking into the window at her family and wishing she could change something, or maybe change a lot. She is sad because she knows she has to let it all play out. Once again, you have created a piece that fits perfectly into the theme.
ReplyDeleteHi, Lori! Your piece is so delicate, the autumnal colors are gorgeous and title, perfect.
ReplyDeletethe colors fit the title so wonderfully! actually i always get melancholy around midsummer, knowing the days become shorter from then on...
ReplyDeleteFantastic artwork it looks so mystery, I love it and the the warm colors too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful piece. Very moving!
ReplyDeletePlease. No melancholy! I'm already too sad. It's been ridiculously hot here in Michigan, but I don't like winter. Who invented winter anyway?! Oh. That's right. I better keep my mouth shut. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteOh, a perfect image for Autumn, Lori. Superb.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... by all the comments here-I see you have been away- I find it interesting that we both "came back" on this prompt. Your piece is exceptional. Sending a big hug. xo teri (and thanks so much for stopping by my place)
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely and sad looking, Lori! Great artwork, as usual!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece, Lori. The title fits it perfectly. The colors do remind me of Fall which I will welcome with open arms. I am one of those who are not saddened by the passing of summer. Fall breathes new life into me. But I've always been a bit odd... Your work inspires, as always.
