Bee-mused

Feeling whimsical and in the Zetti mode for this week's theme at Take A Word challenge. I always struggle a bit with Zetti but as I look back on the pieces that I have made they do embody their own style and are consistent in how I interpret them. It is interesting to step outside of yourself and view the collection of art you have made and be objective about it. "Everyone else's" art sometimes seems to look so much better and unique and (why didn't I think of that ?) often comes to mind. I can't think of a better forum than an art blog to really take a look at where you were, where you are now and be inspired to go where you can go in the future. Imagery from Dover, and Rebecca McMeen at scrapbookgraphics.

  2. Interesting thoughts Lori. It is a bit like looking at other people's work looking at things you have done from a while ago. I do try to think if I was visiting my blog-or house or looking at my things as another person, that I would like them-it is so easy to get into the mindset of comparing things to everyone else's art-especially on the internet so I really try not to!
Anyway-I like your bemused collage-especially her beehive hat. I don't know what a zetti is though.

  3. Very true Lori. It is so much easier for me to be objective of my own artwork long after the fact. I can look back on what I was doing many years ago and see where I was in my life and my progress.

Your zentangle bee girl is super. I do love the saying and the way you have placed it in a sketchy way.

  5. Lori, I'm enchanted and delighted with your piece! You've truly captured the Zetti spirit of fun. And yes, looking at past works always makes me stop and think of where I am now and how I've (hopefully) grown as an artist. Hope you have a happy week ahead. Hugs, Terri xoxo

  9. I love your Zetti Lori...I have a hard time with them too, I love everyone elses but hate my own. I especially love your little Zetti doodahs along the bottom and her lovely antennae...the words are great too!!

  11. What a coincidence that we both thought of bees!! This is a scrumptious piece of art and you are so "spot on" in your comments on Zetti - how it stretches us, causes us to question ourselves. I know I have never really grasped Zetti as an artform but I have certainly had fun in messing about with it. Superb!!

  13. I always have those thoughts about "everyone else's" art and I'm quite conscious about how much I have to improve, but, yes, I can see some improvement when I look back. Your zetti-bee-muse is gorgeous.
