True Nature

The Three Muses challenged us to look at "Nature" this week and in this piece I decided to reflect upon the feminine essence of nature (Mother Nature) or the feminine face of God. I'm not an overly 'religious' person but like to think of myself as a 'spiritual' person- one who likes to embrace the deeper meanings of life, perhaps the magical /more natural essence of life and its cycles . Certainly true nature is balanced by the masculine more aggressive/ active part of the equation but it is the nuturing side that speaks to me right now. Imagery credits go to scrapbookgraphics, wikimedia, Dover books.

  1. Whoa! There must be a dozen layers in this lovely piece. I was especially impressed by the cracks on the face, which I felt told many stories. Wonderful art today (as always).

  7. The placement of the birds with wings a flutter on each side at the figures eye view gives the piece a silent reminder to thank Mother Nature for her kindness even as the fall approaches and blooms are dying. Your art always has a message if not a book full of inspiring messages.

  8. I love the starkness of the magpies against the subtlety of the other elements. That's just typical of magpies :D

  22. I'm always excited when I open your blog in anticipation of how you will express each challenge. This is almost an optical illusion. I was taken at first with the beautiful birds, and it was only after a bit the face appeared to me. What a wonderful piece of artistic legerdemain! Standing O from me!

  25. It is so great, real amazing. I just started to create card art. I am painting through synesthesia which makes me see colors when I hear names and numbers. These colors I transform in paintings. Colors are my life.
