The Three Muses challenged us to look at "Nature" this week and in this piece I decided to reflect upon the feminine essence of nature (Mother Nature) or the feminine face of God. I'm not an overly 'religious' person but like to think of myself as a 'spiritual' person- one who likes to embrace the deeper meanings of life, perhaps the magical /more natural essence of life and its cycles . Certainly true nature is balanced by the masculine more aggressive/ active part of the equation but it is the nuturing side that speaks to me right now. Imagery credits go to scrapbookgraphics, wikimedia, Dover books.

Whoa! There must be a dozen layers in this lovely piece. I was especially impressed by the cracks on the face, which I felt told many stories. Wonderful art today (as always).
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful piece...I love the magpies have them sailing all over my yard they are and endless source of entertainment.
ReplyDeleteLori what can I say ????

ReplyDeleteOh wow Lori, your create some fab art pieces, just love them all. Annette x
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. Mother Nature--yes!
ReplyDeleteThe placement of the birds with wings a flutter on each side at the figures eye view gives the piece a silent reminder to thank Mother Nature for her kindness even as the fall approaches and blooms are dying. Your art always has a message if not a book full of inspiring messages.
ReplyDeleteI love the starkness of the magpies against the subtlety of the other elements. That's just typical of magpies :D

ReplyDeleteI'm always excited when I open your blog in anticipation of how you will express each challenge. This is almost an optical illusion. I was taken at first with the beautiful birds, and it was only after a bit the face appeared to me. What a wonderful piece of artistic legerdemain! Standing O from me!

ReplyDeleteIt is so great, real amazing. I just started to create card art. I am painting through synesthesia which makes me see colors when I hear names and numbers. These colors I transform in paintings. Colors are my life.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Lori. The work that went into this piece shows a lot of talent with the digital crafting. I love the colors and the softness of the face.
ReplyDeleteLori, your Nature collage is absolutely beautiful, with Mother Nature's kind face on the background. What you wrote about Nature was very interesting and very true - and I think that spending time in the nature does make us spiritual in a very good way. Thank you for your thoughts!
