Solstice Invocation
Hail, lovely sun! Praise you for rising!
Praise you for dawning! Yesterday
we shivered in darkness while
you were trapped in the mountains.
Now you rise light as a silver bird.
Always rise like this goddess,
always come back to us like this,
bringing us health and safety,
bringing the game to our arrows,
the fish to our fishhooks. Journey
now in peace, go around the earth
in safety, travel in joy goddess!
...................From "The Goddess Path"
Happy Summer Solstice to all! Enjoy the long day and the light as the sun will now begin her slow journey away from us . She has been building towards this and we are meant to take notice and celebrate. Enjoy all the bounty that is Summer!

Whale Song
Gray Mother,
wise and worn
your journey is known.
Deep melancholy sea
pearlescence is sown.
A song of ages
sings the soul of your kind.
A song of lifeways
tried and true.
A route for the sea spirit to follow
big Waterworld Blue.
This is my entry for the SoArtful challenge "Oceans". Imagery from K& Company and Rosie Posie all digitally painted and blended in PSE.

Art and Garden
Come!
just listen.
We know a way from your scene to the Unseen.
You've lived too long in that gloomy house.
This path leads to a garden that will lift you right
out of yourself.
The gardener is an old friend, the cypress and
jasmine too.
Every day we come and gather a hundred blossoms
here to scatter among you.
Don't worry, there are no hidden motives,
just too much love blooming to keep
for ourselves.
These words are a fragrance escaping
from this garden.
See how the world is softened by their sweetness.
hear them whisper,
Come1 Come! It really is like this!
When we first caught the scent it
swept us away, then gave us
greatness.
And even if we are nothing more than
servants of love now, take care!
Like love, we wait in ambush.

Old Soul
This is my entry for this week's Three Muses challenge where the theme is "Warm Colors". Imagery used in this collage from Christine Rennee, Beth Rimmer, Lorie Davison, Finecrafted designs and the lovely Asian elephant from Tumblefish studio. A recent trip to Cost Plus Imports inspired me to design this after viewing their wonderful Indian themed home wares. Digital painting and filters added to create the spicy warm colors so inherent to Asian/Indian art.

June Bride
As I was creating this June entry for my own calendar "Book of Days" series, Take a Word challenge put forth "Weddings" as the theme this week so this collage works for both! Imagery blended and painted in PSE7 from Dover Books, Finecrafted and Holliewood at Deviant Scrap, Calendar ephemera and Doves from Tumblefish.
Happiness to all of the June brides out there! It is traditional for June weddings but any month can be beautiful. My son and his fiance have chosen September this year (we are all very excited) and I personally love the month of September here in California. Warm with a bit of late summer/harvest feel in the air.
Happy Summer to all!
