This is my entry for the Dark Whispers challenge where we were given the image of the woman and the branches and had to blend them into one piece. I wanted to give the feeling of a transformation - part woman/part tree a Dryad being so to speak. I converted the branches to black and white for effect and added digital butterfly brushes, dragonflys, pearl and mask against a background from scrapbookgraphics. Moon from wikimedia.

It is haunting & lovely Lori.
ReplyDeletebeautiful work.....
ReplyDeleteHer hair definitely looks like roots. I like the black and white and the dragonfly. I love that you said she was a dryad-a subject near to my heart.
ReplyDeleteYou did a marlevous job as always....I continue to be amazed at how you blend all the layers together to get such a unified look.....
ReplyDeleteThe way you made the branches as part of her hair is genius! The pattern across her face is just fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity, how big are your pieces? I am so intrigued by your style, it's mystical and really makes you look and think!
ReplyDeletethis is so very magical and mysterious!
ReplyDeleteI love your part woman/part tree! You asked on my blog how big my paintings are--Just tear out a page in my 9x12 watercolor paper book--then I stitch them onto black canvas, so add 3-4 inches all the way around for the art quilt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! It looks like what happens to her in her dreams. Magical...
ReplyDeleteDragonfly brushes? I bet you made your own. Now this piece looks more like your mysterious, sensual, hidden meaning art I've come to know and love. The branches crawling out of the lady's head really add to the surreal aspect of this piece. Hope you never get tired of me saying it, but this piece is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI have already commented on Whispers Lori but I had to come and have another look. This is absolutely magical! I love it.
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
