This is my entry for the Mixed Media Monday challenge "Mothers". I loved this image as it depicts (in a perfect world) the maternal love and protection of a mother's care . She is an angel, a guardian to watch over and gently guide her child through life. Those of us who have grown children have learned to let go and hope that our love is still somewhat of a protection in a sometimes dangerous and difficult world. I don't think you ever stop being a mom- no matter how old your kids are and my hat is off to mothers world wide - we are all alike.

This is such a beautiful, monochrome piece! And I think you're right, the mom in you never goes away :)
ReplyDeleteLori, I am really loving these monochrome pieces.
ReplyDeleteYes, once a Mom always a Mom. When my kids left the nest I really had a hard time...finding my keys, my purse, my shoes, my way around town (they were my GPS system)and then there is that sudden silence you thought you would love to hear. I don't understand how my Mom said go little birdies to five when I only had two. My Mom rocks, she still runs circles around me.
ReplyDeleteLori, you've done a marvelous job portraying Motherhood with your beautiful post today. Hugs, Terri xoxo

ReplyDeleteYour artwork is exquisite, Lori, and your thoughts always touch a chord with your blog friends. Stunning work.
ReplyDeleteI think when they've left home is absolutely the hardest time of all to be a mother. Mothers don't lose one ounce of their protective instincts, but it's so much harder to protect grown children, and the wide world is so much more threatening. This piece, though, is very soothing and beautiful, much like a lullabye.. Very, very powerful.
ReplyDeletei love your piece lori! it's beautifully created and your narrative pulled at my mother's heartstrings. both my boys are grown and you are so right....we (mothers) never stop trying to protect them.
ReplyDeleteWonderful piece Lori, and it is so true, we will forever be mothers no matter how old our children are.
