The theme for this weeks Inspire me Thursday is "warrior". For most of my life when I envisioned a warrior I ususally saw a man engaged in some sort of warfare or challenge, but in fact a warrior to me now is someone of strength whether that be physical , emotional or moral. A champion who knows herself or himself well enough to not engage in battle but has the inner strength to achieve their goal through modest means and calm determination. This is a digital collage that I made for my Tarot series- this being the number 8 card "Strength". I found images that for me depicts a warrior that walks in strength and is empowered. I stayed a bit traditional with the use of a female image and a lion.

Did you hear of the english queen Bodecia? She turned into a warrior-queen when the Romans killed her husband and her sons. She had long, red hair, and was so wild the romans were scared of her apparently. anyway. I´m sure you can find something about her online.
ReplyDeleteI thought of her when I saw your piece. I like the details.
That is exactly who I thought of when I saw the card! It is beautiful and I agree with your definition of warrior. I'm still thinking about the prompt--not sure how I want to express it.
ReplyDeleteI love your interpretation of this week's topic and of Strength. Powerful imagery and colors! Thanks for sharing with us at Inspire Me Thursday!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! The art work is fabulous and so is the post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a remarkable image. I had a dream of a woman with tattoos all over her body similar to this one, but not a warrior. Where did you find this image? Is there a tale that goes with it? I would love to know.
ReplyDeletefabulous!! I must go look and see the rest of your work!! well done!
