Green Man

Rise
guardian of the wood.
Put on your green finery
blending shadow and myth.
The pulse of the forest is yours;
rich, alive, mysterious.
Your totems encircle the forest
to guide the spirited.
Gnarled and worn
tender and new
awaken and lead the way home.

This is my entry for the Take a Word challenge this week for the theme "Green".  Very appropriate for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day celebrations.  Green is an empowering color, the color of new life, the earth and her children and the Green Man in Celtic legend  serves as her guardian.   This guy is from a photo  I took of my backyard guardian blended with imagery from  Finecrafted designs at Deviant scrap and Celtic script from Dover books.
