Winged Messinger

Stories are told
in the deep recesses of the
inner theater.

Dialogue dances
across the stage;
movements so subtle
stir the heart.

Wings pulse with sound
the mind alert;
alive with imagery
then silence.

I hear you.....

Smoke and Mirrors

Well after a lot of messing around this morning with Blogger and not being able to post or access through my old browser I hope this piece goes through.  A little steampunk fun with imagery from Graphics 45, Hollie and Beth at Deviant Scrap and Rosie Posey at Scrapbookgraphics.  I must say I don't like this new format and will have to continue to work and change my blog settings.  Ah- a little lesson in accepting change and patience!!

Turquoise

This is my entry for the Take A Word challenge this week where it is a color theme "Turquoise".  One of my favorite colors (that I use a lot), and a color that I love to pair up with contrasting colors. It sets every color off beautifully.  I wanted to create a watery world of fresh color and light, fantasy and a feeling of peace; all of the essences of the color turquoise. Imagery credits go to Artchix, Hollie and Beth at Deviant Scrap. Tangie Baxter, Lorie Davison (scrapbookgraphics) and PSE coloring and brushes.

Midnight Fae

Dark Faeries are the subject here for the Art on the Darkside Challenge this week.  Not entirely sinister but perhaps a bit mischievous this fairy is out and about on bright moonlit night after midnight.

Pole Star

This is my entry for the challenge at The Three Muses this week "outside the frame/birds".  And a challenge this was!  The wonders of digital art and the tools of Photoshop lend the magic to make fanciful dreams come true.  Layers and layers on top and underneath; outside and in; create a sense of depth and expanding outside the confines of your picture.  Not an easy task but fun!  I learned how to get rid of those dreaded border lines around my art in (advanced settings for blogger template) and I created the piece 12x12 on a complete black background so to fade into the background color of my blog. Hence creating an effect of floating or moving beyond the frame.  Imagery credits go to Dover Books, Beth Rimmer and Hollie at (Deviant scrap) and photoshop brushes.

Magic and Mayhem

Rooms may be
using us.  We
may be the agents
of doorknobs'
purposes, obeying
imperatives china
dreams up or
pacing dimensions
determined by
cabinets.  And if
we're their instruments-
the valves of their
furious trumpets,
conscripted but
ignorant of it-
the strange, unaccountable
things we betray
were never our secrets
anyway.

Pathways

I recently got a wonderful new digital kit from Finecrafted Designs at Deviant art entitled "warrior women" and this is my tribute to Joan of Arc using imagery from the new kit, personal photos, vintage botanical prints and imagery from Rebecca McMeen and Christine Rennee.

"The path of the Warrior
is lifelong
and mastery is often simply
staying on the path"....... Richard Strozzi Heckler

Wise words and thoughtful ones. When you get to my age (57) you tend to look back at your past and reflect on whether you followed your early pathways of young adulthood or not. Many do and I admire the ability to find your calling early on and pursue with gusto. But some of us take a more labyrinthian course , a few twists and turns along the way (keeping life interesting)... I think we all eventually get to the center of the maze becoming the people we are, shedding some armor and gaining insight towards who we really are. I may not have followed (some) of my dreams as they were not particularly realistic but I created new pathways when I came to a dead end resulting in an ever-evolving quest.
