Remembrance

Little did I know that when I was creating this collage two days ago that my Mother quietly had passed away. She has been ill and it was not unexpected, but wow feelings (good and bad) do flood in and leave you a bit numb. I wanted to created some great collage using old photos of her and me when I was little but frankly it was just too hard. I thought that this beautiful image just about says it all and I overlayed a little of my Mom's handwriting from the back of some old photos.
I think it will take some time to sort out my feelings. I will try to remember the good things ,the good times and the things we had in common and the things we didn't have in common sure made life interesting!

  8. So sorry to learn this Lori - my father passed away four weeks ago so I sort of know some of those muddled feelings you're experiencing right now.

Keep on keeping on - I think that's all we can really do at such times :-)

  12. Lori, I'm so sorry that you have lost your mom. It's been almost 3 years since I lost my mom and I haven't been able to tackle the memory piece I want to do for her. I even saved her last little grocery list that had the things she usually bought on it to use in a collage. Your memory piece is beautiful.

  14. Oh Lori, I am so sorry to hear about your mom passing away. I think your art is wonderful especially because you have her handwriting in it. Very special. (Mothers definitely have their handwriting on us in one way or another.) They say time heals all, but I think time just gives us peace. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

  20. I will add my name to the list who are so sorry for you losing your Mother. Both of my parents are still alive. My father 82, my mother 81. It's so difficult seeing the ones we love fade away knowing they will soon pass away. I personally believe in the Bible's hope of a resurrection, and at least that can give us some comfort during these times. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  21. Lori, My heart and thoughts go out to you, my friend. I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Yes, all kinds of thoughts and emotions run through you at this time, I know. Take comfort in your art and with your friends and family. Yes, you do find comfort in such things as their writing. I know I did with my mother's things... I am here if you need to talk. My thoughts and prayers are with you, as well. Big hug!
