Spirit Keeper

This is my entry for the Collage Obsession Challenge where the theme is "Animals". I used a portion of the image provided (Lions), image from (Dover), background from (scrapbookgraphics) and moon (wikimedia).
I have always been fascinated with the relationship between humans and animals -as totems, teachers and spirit guides on our journey. We all have powerful draws to certain animals and we can learn from their characteristics and natural behavior to use in our lives. All cultures seem to carry stories and powerful legends of animal guides and sometimes "shifter" people who can take on their animal guides' persona and become them. This digital collage as in the "Strength" card in the Tarot, shows a woman at peace and unafraid amongst her powerful and majestic animal companions at home in the natural world embodying her deepest roots.

  2. Lori, I find your Spirit Keeper to be very moving. Last winter I saw the spectacular film, that had been in Mexico City, called Ashes to Snow. Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSX444hQ5Vo It is a testimonial of the relationship of animals and humans. It is amazing. The music and pictures have stayed in my mind ever since and your image has brought it all back. I hope you have time to view this amazing film.

  17. I think that people who study animals and animal behavior are finding that animals are smarter than we think and many species have feelings and care for each other and their offspring.. so there is a strong connection to us humans.

  21. Lori this is beautiful and powerful. I love the mystical and ancient feel of it. I also love your reference to animal guides. The courage tarot card is one of my favorites. Although I'm a Pisces I am also a Tiger (in Chinese astrology) and very drawn to cats of all kind.
