Bird of Paradise

This is my entry for the Theme Thursday challenge "Green". Several years ago I planted three 'Bird of Paradise' plants in my yard and they grew but no blooms. Well, this year after abundant rain I got 3 flowers and I used a picture of one of the blooms in this digital piece! Other components are from Dover, Digital whisper and scrapbookgraphics. Asian text and antique botanical prints added.

  5. I love the deep green cool feel of your collage Lori-I agree with Healing Woman-it is like the deep woods. It is exciting that you grew one of those exotic flowers. I have only ever seen them in florists and restaurants-it might be a little cold here for them! Thanks for your lovely comment on my moon picture-I appreciate it!

  11. You must be so proud of your flowers! What an exceptional tribute to the green and the growth this old world must have to exist. With every dark cloud (and bucket loads of rain) there shines within a silvered lining.

  15. The little picture that shows as a preview icon for your post didn't pick up the bird of paradise. I was so surprised when I saw the piece in full bloom (no pun intended) with all that color. The bird of paradise was the perfect punch for this piece.

You are so lucky to live in a zone/climate where you can leave these beauties in the ground all year long. I bet you'll be taking several shots before the blooms fade into a distant memory.
