En route

This is my entry for The Three Muses challenge (Maps). Over the course of the week I made four attempts to come up with a map collage - all very colorful and detailed but they left me uninspired. I ended up liking the subtlety and lack of color in this piece which left it more dramatic and expressive, with a little sense of mystery. I mixed all elements in Photoshop reduced opacity , converted to black and white and then added soft light/multiply filters.

  6. I'd say your color palette was perfect for this theme. The lack of bright or added color ads to the mystery and excitement of the piece.

  9. Lori, the amazing thing about your most beautiful collage that is the toned-down black and white which give the softest hint of pale browns and creams which are hugely appealing. A standing ovation from me for this gorgeous piece.

  15. Yet another elegant piece, congratulations.

And I tend to agree with you, maps should be subtle things, with the sign of age on them, not brightly coloured straight from the atlas.
