Moonrise

This is my digital entry for The Three Muses challenge this week where the theme is (Nature). I based this piece on a beautiful marsh area (Rush Creek) where I regularly take hikes with my dog . The background is made from a photo of some old burl lumber from my yard and the moon is a photo I took early one morning. The moths are rising with the moon (phototactic beings that they are) and I added the pixie (Dover) for a little enchantment. Rush and reeds are digitally made. Artistic brushes were used for coloring where the lighting on the 'water' (which is basically wood grain from the burl photo) happened magically with added gradient mixtures in Photoshop.

  5. Reading about how this was created, I'm just in awe. It is so lovely and has an other-worldly quality. I think I must need to write a "coming-out post." Alberta is the nickname my sister called me as a teenager, and, when we originally started the blog, it belonged to both of us. She was convinced we should not use our real names, for the sake of privacy (she has identical twin 16 yr. old girls and has to be concerned about things like that). So, we had screen aliases, and mine was Alberta. As time went on, and I began selling and exhibiting work, I realized that there was no need for an alias and decided to use my own name. Alberta remains my alter-ego and muse, however, and, as I'm rather fond of the nickname, I will answer to either.

    Love,
    Alberta/Kathy

  7. Lori, your picture is exquisite. It deserves all the superlatives I can think of but exquisite suits it best. I am blown away by the process. So many steps, all of them leading to such a gorgeous piece of art. I love the touch of the butterflies which seem to be dancing on the water. This is one of you very best. A standing ovation from me.
