Nesting

This is my entry for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge- "Nests". It is a digital collage made up from scanned AB decorative paper images, my photo of some quail eggs digitally altered and I scanned the definition from a dictionary erasing out the background.
I got to thinking about "nests" per se and beyond the traditional definition, the word has a deeper and changing meaning in our lives. We leave the nest (fledge) when we are ready, we then (build )a nest for our own young , they leave us with an (empty) nest, and into our later years we build our nest (egg)-retirement. Kind of a wonderful full circle aspect of our lives!

  1. The colors in this piece are so vivid - stunning combination, and your digital expertise is awesome.

  3. How beautiful - and I so enjoyed your words on the subject of empty nests except you left out a very important part of the cycle. I am at an age where I should be fancy free to do whatever I like but my nest is full again. I am not really complaining, well, not much. I have four small grandchildren who are very lovable but demanding and exhausting and, for some reason, they love Grandma's nest and I seem to have one or two for hours each day. Retirement isn't an option for me - apparently!
