Little Red

This is my entry for the Crazy Amigo Challenge "Do You Believe in Fairy Tales". It is a digital collage I made using an image of Little Red Riding Hood (from The Vintage Moth) and a photo I took of some very mysterious trees in San Francisco recently. I erased out the background and added digital highlights to give it an eerie look.
We all loved fairy tales as children but it is interesting to read the stories again as adults and discover the hidden, more "mature" meanings behind them. On of my favorite books is "Women Who Run With The Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, which deals with the mythology and symbolism behind fairy tales.

  2. I love the way you used your photo for background....and an ominous background it is! It's a wonder we weren't terrified as children by the fairy tales of things that "go bump in the night", but I don't remember being scared by them. Even the poems like "Little Orphant Annie" had a scary element!

  3. I really love this Lori. Red riding hood looks mysterious in the trees with the wolf stalking her. I love fairy tales and you have captured this one by the tail!
